Making Today Matter – Part 3

The most humbling thing is for an all-powerful, all-knowing God to choose human instrumentality to carry out His purpose.

As a Christian teenager, I often heard preachings and teachings about God’s will. For the longest time, I believed that it was something magical and something that needed to be found. Instead, over the years, I have discovered it to be something that was never lost.

If we are not careful, we overlook God’s will. Yes, God has a specific purpose and plan for each person but one cannot know God’s will for their life if they do not know who God is. And friend, there is a difference between knowing God and knowing about God. Believing in God is different from believing in Him as your God.

There must be a personalization.

When I was younger, I enjoyed going to special shops and looking at the license plate name keychains. (Do you all remember those?!?) I’ve probably only bought one in my lifetime. But there was something about seeing MY name on a keychain.

Fast forward to a decade later, I had my first child and it became less interesting because I could never find her name. Now, I have three girls with unique names and I doubt I will ever find their names like I did mine. But the good thing is with all the technology and inventions, I can have someone design a few with my girls names on them without frustrating over the fact that I can’t find a personalized one for them.

You are probably wondering, “Where are you going with this, Judy?”

Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” John‬ ‭10:27‬ ‭

We established that there’s a difference in knowing God and knowing about God. It’s one thing to know Him and another for Him to know you. On the previous post, I asked if you knew Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Now, let me turn it around and ask you, “Does Jesus know you?” My friend, having the assurance that you know Jesus and Jesus knows you is the most important decision you can and will ever make in your life.

“Knowing you, Jesus, knowing you. There is no greater thing. You’re my all, you’re the best. You’re my joy, my righteousness and I love you, Lord.”

“God doesn’t want something from us, he simply wants us.”

C.S. Lewis

I’ve spent a good amount of time encouraging you to get that new heart and start a new relationship with Jesus and it’s all for a good reason. However, I hope and pray that you aren’t just doing it just because but rather you know deep in your heart that there is a void that only Jesus can fill.

The last step to Making Today Matter is through you. Because Friend, I wholeheartedly believe that God wants to use – He desires to use you. But He cannot unless you surrender yourself to Him. Let’s go back to the beginning of this post. Remember how I was talking about God’s Will?

Well, surrendering your life to Him and His will is like signing a contract, except you don’t know what the contract includes. In a marriage contract, it’s for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health… With God, it is pretty much saying, “Dear God, Here I Am.” You are surrendering your life, your desires, your wants, EVERYTHING to Him and trusting that He will use you and whatever comes your way to fulfill His purpose for your life.

Now, take note, when you sign that contract, there’s no point in looking back, no matter how tempting the world and its offers may be.

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62

So the final question is, “Are you ready to Make Today Matter Through You?” If so, let’s begin this amazing journey!
